I Remember ...

I actually remember a lot of things. But the exercise given by Ms. Cat was one of the most unique ones I've ever done. I remember her talking about it and I remember myself doing the exercise, and I remember writing about the exercise back then as well. And I wrote a lot of other things in there as well. But I often thought to myself while writing the exercise ... I wouldn't be able to just WRITE without thinking about something. It felt to me that there are two different things going on ... one is remembering about something, and one is thinking about something. For me, I need to have both of them going on at the same time in order to write it down.

For example, I have a recollection of watching a hockey game on TV, but I wouldn't be able to write about it unless I actually thought about the game and what was happening in it. Given that I can remember watching it, I would still need to think about the game and pause for at least three or four seconds before I started writing about it. However, as I went on, I could sense myself thinking about another memory before I finished writing about the current one. I don't know if anyone finds any bit of sense in what I just said, but yeah. I'm not saying the exercise was bad - it was actually pretty awesome. I would not mind doing it again in the near future. I am sure I would remember writing it the first time.

Poor Millionaire

So, I went to a family friend's place during the winter break, and for lack of a better activity, we decided to watch the movie Slumdog Millionaire. For those who don't know, it is a Hollywood movie that talks about a poor Indian teen who wins it all on the Indian version of Who Wants to be a Millionaire. I was pretty apprehensive about watching the movie, but I was blown away by the end. It was truly one of the best movies of 2008, and I couldn't believe the performances given by the actors.

It was dark at times, gritty on occasion, and downright surprising at other times, but each of those feelings were included for good reason. There were many comic reliefs, and ... I don't know what else to say about the movie, to be honest. It is truly an awesome movie, and I would recommend it to absolutely anyone who wants to watch a movie.

A Bigger ... and Flatter World

So, it was Boxing Day and Week recently, and a lot of people had staked themselves a position outside Best Buy and Future Shop for about eight or nine hours to get the best deals. While we didn't exactly do that, we took 'some' advantage of their sales and bought ourselves a 52 inch LCD TV from Sony.

Since I live in an apartment, the space is SORT of limited, and as a result, the TV looks huge. I also own a PS3, and whoever has played PS3 on an LCD TV knows it can be quite close to "heavenly". The only minor issue I face is that I have cable provided by the complex I reside in. As a result, it appears a little stretched. And they have a rather stupid policy that we cannot bring an outsider's subscription ( i.e. Bell / Rogers )

But besides that minor chink, the TV looks, feels and sounds amazing. My family and I watched The Dark Knight's Blu Ray on the TV using PS3 ... and it's almost as if we're watching it in the theatres. Now I can see Peter (Family Guy) bigger (and fatter) than before.

A Scary World

I was unable to blog at ALL over the winter break, and for the week following it. I fell sick thrice over the break, and then the work following the break was ... a lot.

So anyway, the break was awesome. Virtually no homework to be done, and my whole family was together after a rather long time. As a result, we decided to go to Niagara, and there came my worst bit of the winter break.

On the way there, I had a funny tummy, and I thought it was just a passing ache or something. So, I did not say anything, and I did not want my whole family to turn around and go back to sitting at home. But as we reached Niagara, I went pretty weak, and I went to sleep immediately, only to awaken and vomit 3 times. It felt sick.

Following the first vomit, I had about six or seven more, until I couldn't take any more of them and I collapsed for a small bit of time (I have no idea for how long - it always seems like one second, but it's more than that). So anyway, my parents called the ambulance over and I rode to the hospital, and the hospital staff made me wait for two hours before they even called my name. It was as if the emergency wing was taking a break ...

And so we waited, and waited, and waited. And another four hours later, I finally got to go home. During that span, they stuck one of their IV (or something like that?) in me, and its needle still has a mark on my hand. Bottom line though ... hospitals and emergency wings are bogus ... totally bogus. They take SOOOOOOOOOOOO long :(
